I Have A Beautiful House In Pinehurst...I Call It “The Abbey at Pinehurst.”
The Abbey at Pinehurst

...You're Invited to Enjoy My House.

If you’re like me, time is very valuable. So, allow me to get right to the point:

I’ve decided to continue allowing others to use The Abbey in my absence. I need to provide you some background, tell you what I have to offer, what I’m asking of you, and then detail the specifics. I will try to give you the short version, however, there really isn’t one. Yet I’ll be as brief and direct as I can, hoping not to waste your time…

It’s Really A 30 Year Story

Willie in Scotland

Me at "The Old Course" at St. Andrews

My professional work is in the Midwest, more specifically Ohio and surrounding states. I love my work (I’m an advertising agency). I could have ditched it all and moved to Pinehurst…but, well, you don’t want to really here that part. The fact remains that my bones and income are located and generated north of the Ohio River, south of Lake Erie, east of Chicagoland, and west of the city of Brotherly Love. For now I choose to live in and work from Ohio.

I do travel a lot and have golfed in many parts of the country. I really like Florida. I truly enjoy desert golf in Phoenix. I have even traveled to Scotland and plan on going back (without my wife) to play. However, I have had a love affair with Pinehurst since the mid-70’s and still get excited with each visit. The problem is that I can only get there about six or eight times a year.

I’ve Stayed And Played Everywhere In Pinehurst…
I Even Bought A Condo

  Arizona

Me in the desert.
These guys cleaned my clock.

For many years I roamed from hotel to hotel, looking for the best bargains. I think I’ve played most every course in the Pinehurst area. A week here, a weekend there, even traveling one overnight for one day’s golf. Finally, I bought a condominium. The furnishings were tasteful and the decorations golf-oriented. I do not wish to offend anyone reading this, but my condo was very “manly.” It was called ”The Abbey At Pinehurst,” referring to it as a sanctuary where good friends meet and great times are shared.

The Original Abbey.

I did allow others to use it when I wasn’t there. These people became “Friends Of The Abbey.” One of these "Friends of the Abbey” liked the place so much he made an offer to buy it. I couldn’t refuse. I regrettably sold it lock, stock, and barrel (minus a few personal possessions). I had some great memories there…but you really don’t want to hear about them either. We had better keep going!

The Abbey II Is Not A Condo…
It’s A House

The Abbey at Pinehurst

The Abbey at Pinehurst

There really isn’t an Abbey II. It’s simply The Abbey At Pinehurst. Wherever good friends meet and enjoy each other…it’s The Abbey! When I sold the original Abbey I decided to build a house in Pinehurst. Probably has something to do with Darwinism and the evolution of the species or something like that. Anyway, I have a beautiful house. I think it’s magnificent. It is the perfect atmosphere for me, family, and friends to escape and enjoy great friendship, love, and golf!

What I Am Willing To Do For You?

I am going to continue my practice of allowing others to stay at The Abbey in my absence. Why? Well, it’s simple. I receive great satisfaction in hearing others share their wonderful Pinehurst experiences and it helps defray some of my expenses (although I don’t really need to).

I have developed this website to provide information about The Abbey. I’m making myself as accessible as possible (with my professional schedule) to answer your questions. I have arranged some local help to assist you as a “Friend Of The Abbey” during your stay. All in all, I want my friends to feel as wonderful about Pinehurst as I.

Here’s What I’m Asking From You…

First, very simply, I’m asking you to take care of my Abbey! I don’t view The Abbey as another resort rental, handled through a third party rental agency. It is not furnished with a late basement, early attic decor. There are personal mementos, autographed pictures, and, even though its relatively new, a universe of memories associated with the name. And second, I’m demanding that you have a wonderful time. The Abbey At Pinehurst is designed for good friends and good times!

Well, I Guess It’s Time To Detail “The Deal”

  My Buds in Green

Me & the guys in 1982. These guys also cleaned my clock.

I am offering you the opportunity to stay in my Abbey. The rate is $172 per night off-season, and $247 in-season. Plus there's a one-time cleaning fee of $99.

Let’s do a little math. A party of four golfers staying five nights off-season.
Five nights multiplied by $172=$860. The one-time cleaning fee brings the total to $959.00. Divided by five nights divided by four golfers…$47.95 per person per night
.

What about only three nights in-season? Three nights multiplied by $247=$741. Cleaning will bring it to $840.00. Divided down that’s $70.00 per person per night for four golfers.

I’ll Back Up My Belief With A Guarantee…

Mike, Dean, Willie, Chris

First Tee at Legacy. These guys cleaned my clock...except the guy in red. I cleaned his.

To me, value is a personal matter. Your Abbey value is your Abbey personal experience minus the price (an old advertising equation of mine). If, after your stay at The Abbey, you don’t believe you received a great deal and your Abbey experience was not worth the money you paid…tell me and I’ll return whatever amount of your money you wish. It’s that simple. But remember, you have got to take care of my Abbey!

So, You’re Not Interested. What Do You Do Now?

Simple. Nothing. Thanks for taking time to read my offer.

So, You’re Interested. What Do You Do Now?

First you should explore the rest of this website. I have provided detailed information about The Abbey. Please take my written “tour.” You can click to get directions. I have listed testimonials from those who stayed at the original Abbey to demonstrate their positive personal experiences. I have provided you a link to the Pinehurst Visitors Bureau for your exploration. More importantly, I have a calendar showing when The Abbey At Pinehurst is available. And no, I would never cancel your reserved time because I found time to visit Pinehurst myself. That’s the price I pay.

After your examination of The Abbey website, including the calendar…just e-mail me and let me know of your interest and dates. Or you can use my calendar and book your dates.

Express your questions and concerns and I’ll do my best to resolve them. If you wish we’ll reserve your dates. And oh, you need to tell me you will do your best to take care of The Abbey when you are there.
